Nathalie Rothermel Landua, 99, lifetime resident of Burton, Texas, and widow of Charles H. "Dick" Landua, passed away at Scott and White Hospital in Brenham on Friday, July 3, 2015. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 7 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service for Nathalie Landua will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Landua was born June 28, 1916 in Burton, Texas to Bailleux and Nathalie Ponfick Rothermel. She was baptized on September 24, 1916 by Rev. H.L. Schulz, confirmed April 13, 1930 by Rev. Adolph Walton, and married Charles H. Landua December 31, 1939 by Rev. Ed Eiben at St. John''s Evangelical Church. Mrs. Landua was educated in Burton Public Schools and graduated from Brenham High School. She went on to Dual Arts Beauty College in Austin, Texas and worked as a beautician for Heine''s Barber Shop and operated Nathalie''s Beauty Shop for over 40 years. Her most treasured memories were family gatherings spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family and devoted much time to them. Nathalie loved her many flowers, especially roses. A favorite pastime for her was watching birds and taking delight in butterflies. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg and belonged to the Ladies Circle there. Nathalie was a member and contributor to the Burton Heritage Society and History Book and also belonged to the Burton Schools'' Mother''s Club. She is survived by son Charles E. Landua and special friend Pam Rucker, daughters Laurell Smith of Burton and Lavonne Spacek and husband Larry of Austin; grandchildren , Charles J. Landua, of Paris, Lacey Landua of Sherman, Cheryl Smith of Burton, Lauren Smith of Burton and special friend August Carlson of Sugarland, Landon Spacek and wife Misti of Newton, Dr. Lance Spacek and wife Lindsey, of North Cleveland, Ohio; great-grandchildren Matthew Landua, Hailey Landua, E.J. Pomykal, Olivia Flores, Eric Flores, Jackson Spacek, Carter Spacek, Caroline Spacek and Elizabeth Spacek; brother James D. Rothermel and wife Dorothy A. Rothermel; sisters-in-law Joan Rothermel, and Dorothy G. Rothermel of Brenham; brother-in-law Raymond Thaler of Brenham; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Sedalia Ullrich and Susan Karbowski. Mrs. Landua was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles H. Landua, sisters Mary Louise Rothermel and Annie Laurie Thaler; brothers William A. Rothermel, and Thomas H. Rothermel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Edmund and Alvina Landua, and Earl and Minnie Lee Landua. Serving as pallbearers are Charles J. Landua, Landon Spacek, Dr. Lance Spacek, Ray Thaler, James Rothermel, Donald Rothermel, Marshall Bird, and James Guthrie. Honorary pallbearers are Douglas Landua, Arlin Naegeli, Herbert Rust, Raymond Thaler, Larry Spacek, William Satterfield, Michael D. Rothermel, Sedalia Ullrich and Susan Karbowski.
