Theodore Augustus Low IV was born December 3, 1942, to Theodore A. Low III
and Mary Sommer Low in Brenham, Texas. Ted was baptized at First Baptist
Church Brenham in 1952 and faithfully attended services there and at Tallowood
Baptist Church in Houston for 70 years. Ted was the Junior Maifest King in 1954.
After graduating Brenham High School in 1961, he attended Southwestern
University in Georgetown, Texas where he graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor's
Degree in Business. He also attended Texas A&M University for post-graduate
studies.
Ted married Nancy Stafford Low on May 27, 1972 and they had one son, Theodore A Low V, in January 1977. Ted had a successful career at Tenneco,
Inc. from 1966 to 1978 when he left to start his own company, Ted Low
Properties, Inc. in 1979. He returned home to Brenham with his family in 1989
and lived there and Surprise, Arizona until his death.
Ted was preceded in death by his mother, Mary, and father, Theodore, and many
other close Aunts, Uncles and friends. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and
their son, Teddy. Ted and Nancy would've celebrated their 50th anniversary this
May 2022. Other family members include Teddy's daughter, Lillian Grace Low,
cousins' Ann Lemm, Susan and Neil McLaurin III, Pat Ryan Low, John A.
Sommer Jr, Richard Sommer, Neil McLaurin IV, Lindy Sommer, Sam Sommer,
and Ellie McLaurin.
Ted was an experienced bow hunter, receiving recognition from Pope & Young
for taking a prized-cougar in 1983, and served on the Hunting Council for Bear
Archery. He loved to fish and spent many hours in Rockport, Texas catching
redfish and speckled trout with family and long-time friends. He was an avid
golfer, loved The Master's and visited Augusta on numerous occasions. He
played golf across the country, but his favorite course was Brenham Country
Club where he shot a hole-in-one on #12 hole in 1996. He was a little league
baseball coach, never missed one of Teddy's football or baseball games, and
quietly and humbly ran his business and portfolio with great success.
He is a Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, served on the Board of Directors for BCC, and an active member of the Brenham Elks Lodge.
A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Prairie Lea Cemetery on Monday, December 20 at 11am. A lunch will follow at the Sycamore House.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
