Albert Luedemann

January 22, 1929 — February 10, 2025

Albert Roy Luedemann, known as Roy, of Brenham passed away February 10, 2025 in Brenham. Roy was born on January 22, 1929 in Greenvine, Texas, to Albert and Lillie Deiss Luedemann. He was baptized as an infant at Greenvine Baptist Church. He attended school in Greenvine and then graduated from Brenham High School. Following high school graduation, he went on to attend Blinn College and then took night classes at Sam Houston State University.

In the late 1940's, he worked at Kessler's Garage in Burton. Roy often spoke of hearing the cotton gin engines roar on a daily basis. In 1952, he enlisted in the US Army to proudly serve his country, where he was sent to Korea during the Korean War. His engineering battalion would build roads and bridges for transportation. They would then destroy them when no longer needed.

In 1953, Roy returned home from Korea. He immediately went to work for Joe L. Ward Company as an auto parts distributor. In 1975, he was named store manager and stayed until 1990, retiring on his birthday.

Roy was united in marriage to Joyce Honerkamp on August 14, 1955. To this union a son, Doug Luedemann was born.

From 1990 to 2008, he worked for LaRoche as a driver for dealer trades.

Faith played a central role in his life. Being a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church - Chappell Hill Street along with his parents and siblings. He found strength and fellowship there.

One of his favorite pastimes was restoring old cars with his son, Doug. Many hours were spent together working and restoring vehicles. Winning an award for the restoration of a '46 Sedan coupe was such an accomplishment that he was proud of. A '42 Ford Convertible was also restored and the finished product made him proud.

Roy is survived by his son: Doug Luedemann; his sister: Darlene Blondeau; two nieces and two nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Luedemann, his parents, one brother: O.L. (Lee) Luedemann and two nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2025 with Chaplain Merritt Johnston, Officiant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or to the ASPCA.
