Addie Mae Perkins Glaser of Kenney, Texas, 93, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, November 10, 2013 in Bryan. She was born May 12, 1920 in Buckhorn, Texas to Elbert and Georgie Acock Perkins. She was baptized and confirmed on December 29, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. Addie Mae married Arthur Glaser on February 2, 1939 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville, Texas. Shortly after beginning their family they moved to Houston. During World War II, Addie Mae served her country as one of the first female overhead crane operators at McEvoy/Cameron Iron Works and received an Army-Navy Production Award for her service. After retiring, Addie Mae and Arthur returned to Kenney where they were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Addie Mae and Arthur enjoyed their retirement at their farm affectionately known by their grandchildren as "the Sandhill." Most refer to her as Granny. She loved working in her flower garden, spending time with her family and encouraging everyone that "lots of hands do lots of work." Memories of Addie Mae will be cherished by daughters Joy Nell Glaser Lunsford and husband Glyn of Houston and Dee Glaser Abrams of Waller, grandchildren Janice Jolley and husband Mike of Spring, Jeanene Lunsford of Houston, Jennifer Mayer and husband Mike of Spring and James Lunsford and wife Jennifer and great grandchildren Nolan, Tucker and Wyatt Lunsford of Hempstead and extended family Kim Jordan Sydow and family and Kelly Jordan Wiesner and family, Jackie Jolley-Lowery and husband Chris and daughters Jaina and Ashlyn, Jen Jolley Quinton and husband Matt and daughters Liberty, Chloe and Evelynn . She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur, parents Elbert and Georgie Perkins, sisters Lorene Gower and Gladys Swiech, brothers Woodson, Malcolm and Bill Perkins. Pallbearers are Ronald Sweich, Donald Sweich, Doug Swiech, Forrest "Bubba" Cresswell, Malcolm Perkins Jr., and Chris Strack. Visitation is scheduled for 5:30 until 7: 30 p.m. Wednesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Interment immediately following, at Phillipsburg Lutheran Church Cemetery. Following Internment a luncheon will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg. The family wishes to thank the members of St Paul, friends and family for providing the food.
