Adela Schroeder, 92, of the William Penn community, died December 10, 2016 at Brenham Rest Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday 2 p.m. December 14, 2016 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn with Pastor Mark Moldenhauer officiating interment in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and relatives Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Adela Schroeder was born September 21, 1924 in Washington County to Ernest and Henrietta Loesch Hinze. She was baptized on October 19, 1924 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at William Penn by H. F. Hellmann. She was confirmed in the Christian faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn on April 2, 1939 by Reverend C. J. Appel.
Adela graduated in 1943 from William Penn High School. On October 6, 1946 she was married to Harven Schroeder.
She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. Adela loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also quilting, sewing, and growing flowers. She enjoyed traveling, especially on the bus tours. She also loved to play cards and dominos.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harven Schroeder, son and daughter-in-law; Dennis Wayne Schroeder and wife Patricia, son Ricky Schroeder; a daughter, Rebecca Schroeder; four brothers Edwin, Ernest, Ervin, and Oscar Hinze, also preceded in death by her sisters Alma Gaskamp and Laura Holtkamp.
Adela was employed at Blue Bell Creameries in May of 1961, until her retirement on December 31, 1999, after 38 years of service.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law; Larry and Rebecca Schroeder, James Walter and Kathryn Schroeder of Brenham; one sister, Doris Becker of Navasota, and grandchildren; Scott and Kandace Schroeder, Jon and Jaime Schroeder, Brett and Jennifer Schroeder, Lisa and Roland Denner, Leigh Anne and Jerome Cavner. Her great-grandchildren are Tanner Schroeder, Jaden and Justin Schroeder, Samantha Star Cavner, Diane and Eric Perkins, Kylliee Moore, Trinity Perkins, Tyler and Taylor Denner. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as Pallbearers are Scott Schroeder, Brett Schroeder, Jon Schroeder, Michael Schroeder, Dale Hinze, Lester Hinze, Clint Becker, and Jerome Cavner.
Memorials may be given to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn.
