Adell Kunkel, 81, widow of Alfred Kunkel, passed away January 4, 2011 in Memorial Herman Memorial City Hospital in Houston. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a. m, Friday, January 7, 2011 at St. Paul½s Lutheran Church of Rehburg, with Rev. Steve Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Mrs. Kunkel was born March 4, 1929 in Rehburg to Gus Fischer and Alma Eberhardt Fischer. She was baptized April 28, 1929 in St. Paul½s Lutheran Church of Rehburg by Rev. C. A. Lehne, and confirmed in the same church on August 8, 1944 by Rev. Paul Czerkus. She attended Rehburg schools, and on November 28, 1948, she married Alfred Kunkel. She along with her husband owned and operated Kunkel Store for 39 years in Burton. A lifetime member of St. Paul½s Lutheran Church of Rehburg, she was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 48 years. Some of her favorite activities were going out to eat, dancing, playing cards and games. She dearly loved her entire family and all of her close friends. She was and always will be our greatest cheerleader. She was so loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Al and Donna Kunkel, and Mark and Ronda Kunkel, all of Burton; daughters and sons-in-law Gail and Danny Rudloff of Cypress, and Pat and Scott Blezinger of Industry; brother and sisters-in-law Travis and Margie Fischer of Burton, and Margie Kunkel of Houston; sister, Mary Hoff of Austin; grandchildren: Jeff and Bonnie Kunkel, Garrett Kunkel and fianc½ Mamie Dupre, Lindsey Rudloff, Tyler Rudloff, Nicole and Matt Bettis, Ross Blezinger, Sierra Kunkel and special friend Alan Richard; Spencer Kunkel and special friend Courtney Krueger; great-grandchildren: Cash, Hunter, and Lily Kunkel, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death was her husband, Alfred; her parents, a sister, Elverna Mayer, as well as five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Kunkel, Garrett Kunkel, Tyler Rudloff, Ross Blezinger, Spencer Kunkel, and Ricky Fischer. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Lindsey, Nicole and Sierra, along with Harry and Patty Penkert and Kathy Singleton, and special friends, Virginia Fischer, Virginia Roberts, and Nora Lee Goldberg. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
