Adolph Schaefer, Jr.

Adolph W. Schaefer, Jr., 89 of Brenham, passed away on April 14, 2023. For those who wish to pay their respects, the viewing will be from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 18th at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The family will be present for visitation from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Wednesday, April 19th at 10:00 am with Pastor Matthew Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Adolph Schaefer, Jr. was born on December 7, 1933 to parents Adolph Sr. and Eslie (Schulz) Schaefer of Brenham. He attended local schools. Adolph served his country in the US Army for two years of active duty and seven years of reserve service.

On February 9, 1963 at Grace Lutheran Church, Adolph was united in marriage with Marilyn Schaffner. They made their home in Brenham. Adolph spent 17 years working with Sealy Mattress and then 22 years at BrenTex Mills. Adolph and Marilyn were faithful members of Grace Lutheran Church. Adolph enjoyed hosting barbecues, gardening and caring for the yard, and riding horses. He was involved with the CB Club for many years. Adolph enjoyed eating out with friends and family and partaking of a “cold one” occasionally. Adolph was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather and was especially proud to share a birthday with his youngest grandson, Justin.

Adolph is survived by his loving wife Marilyn; daughter Betty Loesch; grandsons Jason Brending and special friend Lyndsay Hinze, Justin Brending and wife Karley, and great-granddaughter Bailey Brending; brother Edgar Schaefer; sister Verna Mae Sefcik, Elsie Horak; brothers-in-law Donald Hendrickson, Henry Hendrickson and wife Marcy, Rickey Hendrickson and wife Paula, sisters-in-law Gloria Shrock and husband Steve, Cheryl Meier and husband Darrell, Margaret Reuter, and Ruth Schaefer.

He is preceded in death by is parents, Adolph Sr. and Elsie; brother Leroy Schaefer, sister-in-law Mary Ann Schaefer, brother-in-law Wilbert Schwartz, Henry Sefcik, Willie Horak; half-brothers Edmond Schaefer and wife Leona, Erwin Schaefer and wife Mildred; half-sister Hilda Schaefer; sister-in-law Rhonda Conner and husband Tony, and parents-in-law Henry and Secilia Hendrickson.

Pallbearers are Darrell Meier, Donald Hendrickson, Shawn Hendrickson, Jason Brending, Justin Brending and Lynsay Hinze.
