Albert Ehlert, Iii

Albert Sonny Ehlert, III, 59, of Brenham, died Feb. 24, 2005, at his residence. Sonny was born Nov. 2, 1945, in Brenham, Washington County, Texas, to Albert Jr. and Esther Hahn Ehlert. He was baptized Dec. 16, 1945 in St. John Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill by Pastor Paul Gogolin and was confirmed April 10, 1960 in the same church by Pastor Louis Kramer. He was a graduate of Brenham High School. On July 2, 1967, he married Geneva Holtkamp in St. John Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill. Mr. Ehlert was an electrician s helper at Brenham Independent School District and loved to work outdoors. His family was a very important part of his life. Sonny was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, for which he and Wayne have made the baptismal chests since their inception. Sonny was also a member of Prairie Hill-Rocky Hill Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Ehlert of Brenham; son, Albert Wayne Ehlert of Brenham; daughters, Kim Kraft and friend Juan Alcala of Brenham and Sara Gerke and husband Chad of Pearland; granddaughters, Mina Kraft, Lea Alcala and Alexa Claire Gerke; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Dr. Robert Wernecke of Austin and Pat and Dennis Schroeder of Brenham. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 in St. John Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill with Dr. Sue Beall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Scott Wernecke, John Gay, Jerome Cavner, Delphine Addicks, Roy Schroeder, Ray Wellmann, Clarence Witt and Gene Wietstruck. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Brenham ISD maintenance department and Brian Kraft. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
