Aletha Look Engel August 25, 1924 May 26, 2007 Aletha Look Engel, 82, of Brenham, and a former resident of Somerville, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 26, 2007. She was born August 25, 1924 in Somerville, the daughter of Charlie B. and May Lyon Look. She earned her bachelor degree from Sam Houston University in Huntsville and was a descendent of the early settlers in the Republic of Texas. She was a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas in Brenham, The Daughters of the American Revolution of Brenham, The United Daughters of the Confederacy of Brenham, Colonial Dames XVII in Bryan/College Station, a Past President and Board of Director for Somerville Heritage Museum, an Organizing Director for the Brenham Heritage Museum, and a member of Sam Houston Alumni Association in Huntsville. She will be remembered as a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis Arnold Engel, II, sisters, Juanita Clark, Agatha Machemehl, and Serita Wright, and a brother, Dwight Look. Family members have requested that memorials be made to The Brenham Heritage Museum, Oaklawn Cemetery Association, or Hospice of Brenham. Survivors include her son, Charles Look Engel of Irving; two daughters, Willa Lyon Engel Priest of Chesapeake, Virginia and Marsha EngelHawbecker of Laurel, Maryland and three grandchildren. Visitation will begin in Brenham at Memorial Oaks Chapel Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and continue Thursday in Brenham from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at which time Mrs. Engel will be moved to Somerville and will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville.
