Alex E. Grote, 54, of Brenham, died June 19, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Grote was born May 30, 1953, in Brenham, Texas, to Lee Roy Sr. and Pearlie Reisner Grote. He was a graduate of Brenham High School and earned his BBA degree in May, 1981 from Sam Houston State University. On Sept. 10, 1977, he was married to Judy Dahmann at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Mr. Grote retired in August 2003 after working 28 years at Brenham State School. He did custom farm work with his brother and raised registered gray Brahmans. He was a devoted husband and father who loved working on his farm in Wesley. Mr. Grote was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for 24 years and was a member of the American Brahman Breeders Association. Survivors include his wife, Judy Grote of Brenham; children, William Grote of Austin and Amanda Grote of Houston; brother, Lee Roy Grote, Jr. and wife Karen of Brenham; sister, Angeline Kwiatkowski and husband Raymond of Brenham; mother-in-law, Esther Dahmann of Brenham; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Fred and Karen Dahmann of Brenham, Douglas and Diane Dahmann of Spring and Carl Dahmann of Brenham; and nieces and nephews, Lee Roy III and Melanie Grote, Nicole and Kevin Kwiatkowski, Danielle, Zachary, Drew, Renee, Dylan, Katherine, Derek, Christopher, Stephen and Kristie Dahmann. Mr. Grote was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy Sr. and Pearlie Grote; father-in-law, Freddie Dahmann; and niece, Julie Dahmann. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 22 at Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham with Pastor Matthew Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be Wayne Winkelmann, Ronnie Heidemann, James Brod, Rick Tyree, Darrin Zwernemann and Charles Jankowiak. Mr. Grote s nieces and nephews will be considered honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham.
