Alfred Albert Baack, 85, of Shelby Texas was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday February 16, 2011. Alfred was born in Giddings, TX on December 20, 1925 where he was raised, educated and confirmed. During World War II, Alfred served in the Army as a sharpshooter and cook. In January of 1948, he married Gladys Meischen in Houston, TX where they lived until 1990 when he retired from EFCO and moved to their weekend home in Shelby, Tx. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gladys Baack of Shelby; daughter, Beatrice Turner of Houston, son, Rickey Baack and his wife Vickie of Magnolia, TX. Grandchildren Brandon Lee Baack of Magnolia, Heath Carson Turner of Leesville, LA, Amber Michelle Baack of Magnolia and Justin Michael Baack of Huntsville, TX; 3 great grandchildren, Colton Lane, Dylan Ryan and Hallie Reagan; brother Fritz Baack and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 Thursday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, Tx. And funeral services will be at 1 pm Friday at St Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby. The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the Brenham Rest Home and Brazos Valley Hospice for the care provided to Alfred in his final days.
