Alfred Leroy Stoddard, 69, of Brenham, TX passed away on September 30, 2017.
Visitation with the family will be on Monday, October 2, 2017, from 5:30 – 7:00p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, TX.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 10:30a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Jill Vivroux officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Alfred was born March 19, 1948 in Frontenac, Kansas to George A. and Nellie S. Stoddard. He married the love of his life, Gloria J. Glaesmann, on November 30, 1985.
Alfred was an amazing man who was loved by many. He did construction work at Stoddard Construction Services. He really enjoyed doing construction work, especially building barns. He also really enjoyed doing creative projects, especially if it was for his family. Alfred loved his family more than anything else in this world. Alfred loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed raising African Boer Goats. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing and was very good at both.
Alfred Stoddard was preceded in death by: parents, George A. and Nellie S. Stoddard, and Mavis Smalley, and Justin Mertz.
Survivors include: his wife, Gloria G. Stoddard; son and daughter-in-law, Jason L. and Heidi Stoddard; sons and daughters-in-law, Ron L. and Rebecca Mertz, Scot D. and Jennifer Mertz, Peter and Jill Massa; daughter, Dana L. Edge; daughter and son-in-law Shelly and Daryl Ganske; brother, Randy Stoddard; sister and brother-in-law, LaMarilus and Bob Peace; sister, Arlene Crepensik; grandchildren, Joshua A. Stoddard, Jacob H. Stoddard, Mason Mertz, Collin Mertz, Tyson Mertz, Hailee Lancon, Cody Lancon, Caleb Mertz, Zachary Mertz, Hannah Mertz, Connor Edge, and Kate Edge; great-grandchild, Linlee Lancon (due in November)
Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Stoddard, Jacob Stoddard, Mason Mertz, Collin Mertz, Tyson Mertz, Caleb Mertz, Zachary Mertz, Connor Edge, and Cody Lancon.
Honorary pallbearers are Hailee M. Lancon, Hannah C. Mertz, and Kate A. Edge.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley, Zion Lutheran Church, or American Cancer Society.
