Alice K. Arndt, 85, was born in Mill Creek, Texas to William and Emilie Ludwig Knipstein on December 7, 1921. She passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2007 in Trinity Care Center, Brenham. Alice was baptized and confirmed in Burton in the Lutheran faith. She was married to Leo J. Arndt on January 4, 1945. She worked at St. Anthony Laundry, Sanders Fabric Care and Modern Cleaners. She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was educated in the Mill Creek Schools and graduated from Brenham High School. She was known to all who loved her as Memo . Memo is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Faye & Raymond Charles Werth of Brenham and a son, L.J. Arndt of Brenham. Memo is also survived by four granddaughters and two grandsons: Wendy Dawn Werth of Brenham, Jennifer & Jess McGinley of Houston, Misty Lynn & Ronald Jay Mehrens, Jr. of Brenham and Jill Arndt of Brenham. Surviving as well are two great-granddaughters: Taylor Loren Grimm of Houston and Sara Ann Mehrens of Brenham, and by one great-grandson, Logan Alan Grimm of Houston, along with step-great-granddaughters, Blyss and Calley McGinley of Brenham. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo J. Arndt, on October 15, 1982; a grandson, Craig Neal Werth; three brothers: Willie C. Knipstein, Louis Knipstein and Walter Knipstein. She is further preceded in death by four sisters: Emma Meyer, Lena Hodde, Lorena Lehrmann and Lenora Roesler. Visitation with the family will be on Monday evening, September 24, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 2 p.m. with interment following in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronald Jay Mehrens, Jr., Jess McGinley, Billy Thaler, Jimmy Wolf, Ricky Bosse and Brandon Marth. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church or to Southern Care Hospice; 3206 Longmire Drive, College Station, Texas 77845. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel; 1306 W. Main St., Brenham.
