Alice Pearl Mitcham, 74, of Navasota, died Dec. 23, 2014, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham with Rev. Matthias J. Dinger officiating. Alice was born July 12, 1940, in Navasota, TX, to Willie R. and Ella Wehring Wehmeyer. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith at William Penn, TX and confirmed in Austin. She was educated at Texas School for the Blind. Alice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Navasota. Through the Commission for the Blind, Alice operated a concession stand in the Brenham Post Office, where she made many friends. Survivors include her sister, Bonnie Jean Lanford of Navasota; nephew, Darrell Lanford and wife Mary; great-nieces and great-nephews, Gwendolyn French, Michael French, Katie Wright and Matthew Wright; and a great-great-niece, Reagan Grace French. She was preceded in death by her parents; and nephew, Kenneth Lanford. The family is grateful to the staff at the Navasota Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their many years of care for Alice.
