Alice Townley

Alice Katy Townley, wife of Thomas Townley, passed away October 9, 2013 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham, surrounded by her family. Alice Townley was born February 15, 1929 to Otto and Ida Hermann Duesterhoft in the Gay Hill Community of Washington County. She completed her education in area schools, and married Thomas Jefferson Townley on Nov. 4, 1969 in Columbus. They made their home in Washington County, and Alice cared for her family as a homemaker. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin, with Pastor Ken Weiss officiating. Burial will take place in the Friedens Cemetery in Gay Hill. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Townley of Brenham; son, Larry Poehl of Somerville; daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Willis Gilliam of Somerville; brother and sister-in-law Otto and Ora Dean Duesterhoft of Somerville; grandchildren: Cyndi, Larry and wife Amy, and Crystal; great-grandchildren: Hannah, Grace, Ande, and Kieler, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Jerry Schwartz, David Schwartz, Randy Schwartz, Henry Frank Poehl, Larry Hejl and Bruce Schoen. Memorials may be directed to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin or Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements for Alice Katy Townley are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
