Alice Eckermann Boyd, 79, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at Brenham Nursing and Rehab Center in Brenham, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Industry United Methodist Church, with Rev. Leo Carrasco officiating. Burial will follow in the Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Alice was born February 10, 1934 in the Schoenau Community of Austin County, Texas to Hugo and Bernice Deleon Eckermann. Alice moved to Houston in 1952 and went to work for Parker Brothers. She met and married the love of her life, Leonard Boyd. They were married on March 7, 1953 at Industry United Methodist Church and made their home in Houston. They had twins, Elizabeth and Richard, on September 3, 1960. In 1965, she and Leonard bought the Eckermann homestead in the Schoenau Community of Austin County. They continued to live in Houston but spent every weekend, holiday, and vacation at their beloved farm. Alice went to work at Igloo Corporation in Houston to be closer to home. She retired from Igloo in 1999 after more than 25 years as the Executive Assistant in Sales and Marketing. After retiring, Alice moved to the farm and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard, sister-in-law, Mary Eckermann, and brother-in-law, Stanley Lunbeck. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband, Mike Reed, of Bellville; granddaughters Kelly Reed and husband Jeff Hajek of Brenham, and Lauren Reed of Bellville and fiancé, Terence Vierling of New York, and great-granddaughters, Brittney Hajek and Emma Corley; her son, Richard, and wife Julie Boyd of Hockley and grandchildren, Regan Boyd Morris and fiancé, Doug Seliger of Austin, and Casey Boyd and Chance Boyd of Hockley; her brother, Rubin Eckermann, and sister, Darlene Barrett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
