Alma Hahn

Alma W. Hahn, 92, of Brenham, widow of Jimmie Hahn, Sr., died August 10, 2009. Born April 9, 1917 in Somerville, Texas to Ralph and Hattie Malkey Wood, she was educated in the Somerville school system, and graduated from Somerville High School as salutatorian. On August 13, 1935, she married Jimmie Hahn, Sr. in Somerville, and was co-founder along with her husband of Jimmie Hahn Ready Mix Co. A member of Grace Lutheran Church, she truly loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed her weekly bridge games and was a Bingo enthusiast. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law Jimmie Jr. and Jeri Hahn and Charles Ray and Cynthia Hahn; daughter and son-in-law Mary Ann and Charles Schulte; grandchildren: Casey & Lisa Hahn, Michael and Coco Hahn, Neal and Holly Hahn; Val and Stacey Schulte Walters, Curtis and Stephanie Schulte Kaiser, John and Kristi Schulte, Brian and Abbie Hahn Knezek, Emily, Katie and Andrew Hahn; great-grandchildren, Mary Kate and Winston Walters, Kristin and Conner Kaiser, Dillon and Caden Schulte; Sydney Hahn, C. J., Jason, and Angela Hahn; great-great grandchildren: Haylee, Hunter and Harley Hahn; sister Lillian Brennan; sister-in-law Shirley Wood, brothers-in-law Ralph Kopplin, Alvin Hahn, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Hahn, Sr.; her parents, Ralph and Hattie Wood; sisters Florence Murski, Ruth Kopplin; brothers Ralph Wood and Buck Wood, and a grandson, Adam Hahn. Funeral services for Alma Wood Hahn will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and relatives Tuesday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Casey Hahn, Mike Hahn, Neal Hahn, John Schulte, Andrew Hahn, Curtis Kaiser, Val Walters, and Brian Knezek. Honorary pallbearers are Norma Winkelmann, Carrie Marsh, Helen Schulz, Mildred Nienast, and Nina Runge, as well as all employees of Jimmie Hahn Ready Mix and La Grange Concrete and special care givers Christine Parkison, Sally Tarvin and Angel Cabrera. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or to Grace Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
