Alma Flentge Wensel, 86, of Brenham, died Sept. 28, 2004, in Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mrs. Wensel was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Washington County, Texas, to Otto and Ella Priesmeyer Flentge. She was baptized and confirmed in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Welcome. On Nov. 11, 1939, she was married to Rubin Wensel in Salem Lutheran Church in Welcome by Rev. I.M. Mansur. She took great pride in her role as wife, mother, grandmother and caretaker for her parents. She enjoyed homemaking, church circle, playing cards and dominoes with friends and senior groups. Alma loved entertaining her grandsons and friends, and she loved people. She is kept in loving memory by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward L. and Marilyn Wensel; grandson, Aaron Wensel and wife Kristie; brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Ruth Flentge; two sisters and brother-in-law, Hellen Dannhaus and Mary and Monroe Tockhorn; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Irene Flentge, William Felscher and Tekla and Martin Wiesepape; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rubin; grandson, Lance Wensel; brothers, Ernest Flentge, Otto Flentge; sister, Dorthy Felscher; brother-in-law, Raymond Dannhaus and Melvin Dierking; and sister-in-law, Esther Dierking. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 in Salem Lutheran Church in Welcome with Pastor Jason Korthauer officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church in Welcome or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
