Alton Otto Haar, 83, of Brenham, died Nov. 28, 2014 at Scott and White Hospital in College Station. The funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30 at St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Mr. Haar was born Feb. 7, 1931 in Kenney, TX, to Otto C. and Ella Stelter Haar. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg and was confirmed at St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Jan. 13, 1956, he was married to Barbara Jozwiak at St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton. Mr. Haar was a member of St. John''s United Church of Christ where he was an elder. He retired after 50 years with Dr. Pepper. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Sons of Hermann. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Haar of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Bobby Remmert of Houston and Debbie and Gary Noerenberg of Brenham; grandchildren, Ashley and Lanny McPherson, Dustin Remmert and Robert Garcia, Lucas Noerenberg and special friend Christina Marinis and Brianna and Justin Bell; great-grandchildren, Cole Landon McPherson and Cate Ashlan McPherson; sisters-in-law, Margie Haar, Josephine Nance, Frances Mendoza and Pat Rinn; brothers-in-law, Stanley Jozwiak and special friend Evelyn Moltha and Charles Jozwiak and wife Mary; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence Haar; brothers-in-law, Charles Nance, Jerry Rinn, Mike Mendoza and Anthony Jozwiak; and nephews, Keith Jozwiak and Bobby Rinn. Pallbearers will be Daniel Gaskamp, Dustin Remmert, Lucas Noerenberg, Lanny McPherson, Robert Garcia and Billie Noerenberg. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Hanath, Justin Bell and John Wallace.
