Alvina Steinbach, 96, of Brenham, died July 9, 2005, in Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham. Miss Steinbach was born May 24, 1909, in the Cedar Hill community of Washington County, Texas, to Edward and Bertha Krause Steinbach. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter s Lutheran Church in Gay Hill. Miss Steinbach was a private duty nurse and worked with her brother, Dr. Herbert Steinbach, for many years. Survivors include her sister, Hildegard Tiaden of Brenham; nieces and nephews, Evelyn and Ed Kruse of Brenham, John and Mildred Tiaden of Brenham, JoAnn Zuch of Waco, Dr. Herbert and Sandy Steinbach of Dallas and John Steinbach of Brenham; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dr. Herbert Steinbach; sister-in-law, Elsie Steinbach; brother-in-law, Ewald Tiaden; three great-nephews; one great-niece; and one nephew-in-law. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 11 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12 in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Miss Steinbach s great-nephews will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be given to St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham or to Hospice Brenham.
