Alvine Bethke, 80, of Brenham, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2008, at Brenham Rest Home in Brenham, Texas. Alvine was born July 18, 1927 in Burton, Texas. Her parents were Ed and Emma Pfundt Bethke. Alvine was baptized on November 13, 1927 at St. John''s Church in Burton. She was confirmed by Pastor Knickney at St. John''s Church in Burton on March 29, 1941. Alvine was a homemaker and enjoyed many happy hours baby sitting. She was a devoted daughter and sister, caring for her elderly parents and brother. She is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Bernard Dannhaus; niece and nephew Connie and Lanny Strong; nephew and niece Roy and Vickie Dannhaus, all of Brenham. Great niece and nephews Kaci Dannhaus, Chris Rust, T J Rust; great, great niece Celeste Rust and great, great nephew Aidan Rust. Cousins: Johnnie Bethke, Eddie Braun, Dora Braun and Anita Herzog. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Edwin Bethke, her twin sister and brother-in-law Lorena and Travis Heins. The family wishes to say "Thank You" to her group of "Phone Friends", you were so special to her and keeping her connected to the outside world, which gave her many hours of pleasure. She loved to talk about families and relive stories from the past. A special thanks to "Brenham Rest Home Employees", Ann O''Malley and the medical personnel in Brenham and St. Joseph, in Bryan for their wonderful care. Funeral service for Alvine Bethke will be held at 11:00a.m., Monday, July 14, 2008 in St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton with Rev. Greg Felder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Miss Bethke will lie in state at Memorial Oaks Chapel Saturday, and she will be in state Sunday at the Foehner Funeral Home, Burton with visitation with the family from 5 to 7 p.m..
