Funeral services for Alvira Naumann Buro Drews, 92, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, with Pastor Pat Lehrer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mrs. Drews passed away July 15, 2013 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Alvira was born April 27, 1921 in Live Oak Hill, in Washington County, to Fritz and Lydia Krause Naumann. She was baptized June 19, 1921 in Prairie Hill by Pastor Appelbach, and confirmed there April 14, 1935 by Pastor Paul Goglin. She was educated in Prairie Hill area schools. Alvira was married to Arthur Buro on June 20, 1943, and he preceded her in death in 1968. On December 9, 1972, she was married to Willie Drews, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1998. A member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, Mrs. Drews took loving care of her family as a homemaker. Her favorite pastimes included playing cards and dominoes. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Linda Buro of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law, Verna Mae and Elmer Hudspeth of Houston; grandchildren: Shelia and John Menk of Round Rock, Sean Buro of Pennsylvania, Sara Eckert of Louisiana, and Arthur Ray and Jan Hudspeth of Houston; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Cody, Eric and Jack Menk, Anthony Buro of Wisconsin, Zachary, Samantha, Kristin and Addison Eckert of Louisiana, and Austin and Connor Hudspeth of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Edwin Weiss, Jr. and Doris Klatte, all of Brenham, as well as four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Lydia Naumann, her first husband, Arthur Buro, and second husband, Willie Drews, Jr., her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Paul and Emma Buro and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Drews, Sr. , as well as four brothers, six sisters-in-law, one sister, and seven brothers-in-law. Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Weiss, Wayne Naumann, Jody Naumann, Gary Knebel, Brian Knebel, and Kevin Knebel. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville.
