Amanda Glaesmann, 86, of Brenham, died January 23, 2008, at her residence. Mrs. Glaesmann was born June 25, 1921, in William Penn, Texas, to Martin and Henrietta Boenker Klussmann. She was baptized and confirmed in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn and attended William Penn School. On Nov. 11, 1942, she was married to Erwin Glaesmann in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. Mrs. Glaesmann was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville and the Bluebonnet Club. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Al Stoddard of Brenham; grandchildren, Ron and Rebecca Mertz, Scot and Jennifer Mertz, Dana and Corey Edge and Jason and Heidi Stoddard; great-grandchildren, Mason, Hailee, Collin, Tyson, Caleb, Zachary and Hannah Mertz, Connor and Kate Edge, and Joshua and Jacob Stoddard; sisters and brothers-in-law, Emma Colburn of Arlington, Leona Cox of North Highland, California, Ollie and Alvin Dannhaus of Burleson, Evelyn and Delbert Muery of Gay Hill and Joyce and Bill Thomas of Boerne; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Maass of Long Point, Annie Glaesmann and Jean Klussmann, both of Brenham, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Glaesmann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin Glaesmann, on July 7, 2004; son, Erwin Glaesmann, Jr.; grandson, Justin Mertz; brothers, Alvin Klussmann and Glenn Klussmann; sister, Nathlie Glaesmann; brothers-in-law, Louis Glaesmann, Herbert Glaesmann and Louis Maass; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Esther and Calvin Quebe. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville with Pastor David Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Bobby Colburn, Brian Colburn, Herbert Glaesmann, Jr., Larry Glaesmann, Tim Maass and Darrell Quebe. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E. Blue Bell Road, Brenham, Tx. 77833 or to the American Cancer Society.
