Amelda was born at Warda, Fayette County, Texas, on December 19, 1919 to August C. F. and Anna Kuehn Lange. She graduated from Giddings High School in 1937 as salutatorian and later from Durham-Draughan Business College.

At Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village, she volunteered extensively as receptionist, telephone operator, and managed the convenience store for residents.

As Ameldas’ soul left her body, she was looking forward to being with her Lord and Savior and to being reunited on judgement day with all of her family who preceded her, namely her husband, who died in 1989.

Surviving Amelda are her nephews and their wives, Gerald and Susan Holm of Florida; Bill and JoAnn Holm of Bellaire; Frank Roper of Conroe; nieces and their husbands: Marcelee Afflerbach of Hockley; Judith Winston of Tomball; Ginger Abner of Ledbetter; Donna Phillips of Giddings; Betty and Bob Lindsey; Sharon and Dean Stanford of Abilene; Lynn and Bob Archer of Sugar Land. There are numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends: Luan Wachmann of Round Rock, Jucilla Lehmann, Rev. Herbert and Harriet Graf of Conroe; George and Bonnie Hughes of Willis; Lori Bachmann of Florida, plus many other dear friends. Her godchildren, Michele Samuels and David Pyle, Jr. were her gems.
