Anita Thomason

Anita Gaskamp Thomason, 98, widow of Bernard Thomason, passed away Dec. 22, 2015 in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2015 at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, with Pastor Skip Stutts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service, from 1 until 2 p.m.

Anita Thomason was born July 21, 1917 in Washington County to Willie and Hedwig Brauner Gaskamp. She married Bernard Thomason on March 12, 1940 in Houston.

Survivors include daughter, Diana Garner; daughter and son-in-law Carrie and Ron Bozarth, all of Burton; grandchildren: Cody and Sara Bozarth, and Abby Bozarth; brother, Marvin L. Gaskamp of Buda, and sister, Esther Oberhoff of Needville. Also surviving are numerous other nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law, Buddy Garner, as well as two brothers and two sisters.

Serving as pallbearers are Cody Bozarth, Elwood Oberhoff, Delfred Gaskamp, Neal Reimer, Brad Murray, Clarence Oberhoff, Paul Gaskamp, and Richard McConnell.

Honorary pallbearers are Abby Bozarth, Sara Bozarth, Ashley Goldberg, and Heather Rinn.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Washington County EMS and paramedics, Hospice Brazos Valley, including Diana, Andrea, Latoya, and Hailey. Special thanks are also extended to Scott and White Hospital in Brenham, including Lelani, Rob, Connie, Crystal, Ola, Amanda, Jessy, Lillian, Dyan, Erika, Monique, Cassandra, Michelle, Dr. Michael Schlabach, Dr. Pierre Zoldhelyi, and Heather Vierus, P.A.

The family is also grateful for Anita''s caregivers, the late Sarah Basey and Gwen Mathis.

Memorials may be directed to St. Peter''s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill and Hospice Brazos Valley.
