Anna Wassermann

Anna Wassermann, 96, of Brenham, the widow of Hugo Wassermann, Sr., died Saturday at Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Anna was born April 22, 1910, in Latium, Texas, to George and Anna Kadlacek Baron. She was baptized and confirmed in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Latium. She attended County Line school. On January 3, 1934, she was married to Hugo Wassermann, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Latium. She was a homemaker, a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Latium, Latium Fire Department , and a member of the Harmonie Hall in Shelby. Mrs. Wassermann made many beautiful handmade quilts for her family, as well as donating many of these quilts for various fundraisers in her community. Her homemade kolaches and cakes made holidays special for her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Hugo Babe and Susan Wassermann of Brenham; daughter Judy Bender of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law Anna Rose and Lloyd Brandt of Latium; grandchildren Keith Wassermann, Kaci Gregory, Samantha Gregory, Dakota Gregory, Brian and Debbie Bender, Shelly Steele, Sonja & Larry Cudd, Luke and Deandra Brandt, and Tanya & Mickey Steele; great-grandchildren, Krisitie & Todd Canterbury, Melody Cudd, Randa Braun, Chelsea Braun, Trevor Braun, Mickey Steele II, Nikki Steele, Todd Steele, Brooke Steele, Megan Bender, McKenzie Bender, and Camden Harper Gregory; great-great grandchildren Kaitlyn Canterbury and Haley Canterbury. She was preceded in death by parents George and Anna Baron; her husband Hugo Wassermann; her son Maurice Wassermann, brothers, Raymond Baron, Ben Baron, Robert Baron and infant brother Lad Baron; sisters, Emily Valenta, Agnes Horton, Mary Mondrofsky, Sophia Neumann and Celia Light, Hermina Garidel, and Angelina Bednar; son-in-law Herbert Buck Bender; and grandson Robert Wayne Brandt. The Wassermann family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. The funeral service for Anna Wassermann will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Latium with Father Ed Kucera and Msgr Ben Mazurkiewicz celebrants. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Memorials maybe given to Hospice or to the Mickey Steele II fund at Guaranty Bank in Brenham.
