Annie Giebler

Annie Koslovsky Giebler, 90, widow of Edwin Carl Giebler, died April 23, 2010 in Kruse Memorial Village in Brenham.

Annie was born November 16, 1919 in the Welcome Community to Charlie and Clara Schroeder Koslovsky. She was baptized into the Christian faith on January 11, 1920 in Industry Brethren Church by Pastor Henry Juren, and confirmed January 11, 1951 by Pastor Walter Wolff in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome. On February 14, 1942, she was married to Edwin C. Giebler in Brenham, TX.

Annie was raised on a farm in the Welcome community. Along side her husband, she continued farming until 1972, when she went to work for Fabric Care Service and later at Modern Cleaners until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham, as well as the St. Paul's Ladies Aid. In addition, she taught Sunday School for a number of years. Annie was also a member of the Sons of Herman Lodge #6, and enjoyed housework, cooking, and gardening until the time she became ill.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Monte C. and Cynthia A. Giebler of Brenham, and Edwin A. and Jean Giebler of Danville, Indiana; grandchildren: Cayte Giebler of Brenham, and Timothy Giebler of Danville, Indiana, Jessica and Rebecca of Danville, and two great grandchildren, Sarah Giebler and Becky Butts; a great-great grandson, Matthew Butts, all of Danville, Indiana. Annie is also survived by a brother-in-law, Gene Wilburn of Dallas. She is also survived by special cousin, Ernst Platte and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her husband, Edwin C. Giebler, preceded her in death, as did her parents, Charlie and Clara Koslovsky. Also preceding Annie in death were sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Aileen and R. J. Lawler, and Verdell Wilburn.

Funeral services for Annie Koslovsky Giebler will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastors Lawrence Bade and Phil Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers are Ernst Platte, Michael Rudloff, Bud Tolliver, Winston Rosenbaum and Roger Winkelmann.
