Archie Steele

Archie Bernard (A.B.) Steele was born on April 27, 1938 in Glendale, Arizona to Chester and Inez Bryan Steele; and passed from this life on February 15, 2019 in West Monroe, Louisiana at the age of 80.

Visitation was held on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 4:30pm to 8pm at the Griffin Funeral Home at 911 Warren Drive in West Monroe, Louisiana.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday February 19, 2019 at 2pm at the Latium Cemetery in Latium, Texas; followed by a light luncheon and gathering of family and friends at the L-W-G Volunteer Fire Department in Latium

Archie very proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was responsible for refueling jets in flight, he was the person that docked the fuel jet to the jet in flight, and was very proud of his service job. He spent his working life as a heavy equipment operator.

Archie married Gettis Hendrix and together they raised 4 sons and a daughter.

Archie is survived by his wife of over 60 years Gettis Steele; sons Terry Steele and wife Donna of Brenham, TX., Mickey Steele of Brenham, TX., Troy Steele of Brenham, TX., John Steele and wife Sandy of Tomball, TX; and daughter Kim Duckworth and husband Chris of Brenham, TX.

Archie is survived by 12 grandchildren: Wendi Steele Flores, Todd Steele, Mickey Steele, II, Tera Steele Miller, Kera Steele, Nikki Steele, Joshua Steele, Brooke Steele Durham, Collin Duckworth, Joby Hall, Kaylor Steele, and Zachary Duckworth; as well as 12 great-grand children.

Archie is survived by 4 sisters: Maxine Steele Orr, Willmetta Steele Grimes, Doreen Steele Gray, and Sandra Steele Williams, as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Inez Bryan Steele; brothers Jerry Steele, Malcolm Steele, sister Laura Gail Steele, and great-grandson Caleb Flores.
