Arlene Adams

March 31, 1955 — July 5, 2013

Arlene Marie Daniel Adams, of Brenham, passed away at College Station Medical Center on July 5th, 2013 at the young, vibrant age of 58. Arlene was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Daniel and sister, Susan Daniel, both of Brenham. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Amanda Gore Avey of San Antonio, and Melissa Gore and grandson, who she loved dearly, Derek Wayne Gore of Brenham.; twin brother Arthur Daniel and wife Janet of Brenham; brother Ralph Daniel and wife Kat of Flushing, MI; and nephews, Matthew Daniel, Micah Daniel, and Kaleb Daniel; best friend of over 30 years, Katherine Ritchie of Cypress; and her favorite little dog, Roxie Pearl. Arlene was born in Houston, Texas on March 31st, 1955. She attended schools in Cypress and graduated from Brenham High School in 1973. Arlene and twin brother, Arthur, were part of a record number of seven sets of twins to graduate that year. After the birth of her two daughters, Arlene returned to Brenham and began working for the State of Texas in 1988, where she worked until her retirement in 2011. With the addition of her grandson, Derek, to the family, Arlene set out to be a terrific Granny. She loved her free time though she missed the eminence contentment she felt helping others. Arlene returned to her unit with the state, until recently when she was hired at Girling Health Care in Brenham. Arlene was excited about the new position, as she would continue to assist the elderly, but with a change of pace that allowed her to spend more time with her family and grandson. Arlene, known to many as "Spitfire", was a Head Judge with the International Barbeque Cookers Association and enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, tasting new recipes, and just having a smokin'' good time with her dear friends. She also enjoyed creating unique pieces of art, furniture, and decorations from items she found at garage sales; another of her favorite hobbies. A service of remembrance will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St, Brenham, TX, on Tuesday, July 9th at 5 pm, with visitation following through 8pm. The family would ask for donations to be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Brenham Community Education Center, as Arlene loved being able to help people in any way she could. Classes for youth and seniors will be enriched and she will continue to teach and touch people''s hearts from heaven. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham. To post a tribute to the family, visit www.memorialoakschapel.com.
