Arlene Neutzler Ahrens, 69, of Brenham, widow of Jerry Lee Ahrens, passed away August 12, 2011 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2011 in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin. Pastor Charles Parnell will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Arlene was born July 17, 1942 in Carmine, Texas to Perry and Emma Meyer Neutzler. She was baptized in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine and later confirmed in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin. A 1960 graduate of Brenham High School, she later married Jerry Lee Ahrens in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin. Arlene was well-known in the community for her longstanding service to Trinity Medical Center, formerly Bohne Hospital, serving as vice-president for 47 years. Her selfless dedication to the hospital will long be remembered, as she tirelessly trained countless persons over the years so they could better serve the healthcare needs of this area. Arlene was also owner of Ahrens Bros. Transport and Ahrens Bros. Tire and Service. A member of Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin, she was also an active member of the Pilot Club. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Duane Ahrens and Becky McCarty, and Sonny and Monica Salgado; grandchildren: Brandon and Tosha Ahrens, Paola Salgado, Jerry Lee Salgado, Erick Salgado, Lucas Salgado, Seth McCarty, and Richele Hooks; great-grandchild: Lexi Jane Ahrens; sister, Dina Weiss; brothers and sister-in-law, Valgene Neutzler, and Glenn and Jane Neutzler, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Ahrens; parents Perry and Emma Neutzler; father-in-law and mother-in-law Lee and Henrietta Ahrens; sister, Doris Neutzler; sister-in-law Carolyn Neutzler; brother-in-law James Jimmy Ahrens; nephew Michael Neutzler, and great-niece, Kallie Neutzler. Special friends to Arlene were Carol Lanford, Bonnie Scheffer, Paige Keaton, Harley Farnsworth, Rachel Farnsworth, Bob and Joan Clausnitzer from Wisconsin, and Doug and Jennifer Nichols and family, as well as close and personal friends from Bohne Hospital and Trinity Medical Center, and past and present employees of Ahrens Bros. Transport and Ahrens Bros. Tire Service. Serving as pallbearers are James Jimboy Ahrens, Brandon Ahrens, Cody Neutzler, Kyle Neutzler, Marc Neutzler, and Doug Nichols. Honorary pallbearers are Kelli Weiss, Sara Weiss, Jamie Ahrens, as well as all employees of Ahrens Bros. Transport, Inc. Memorials may be directed to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin.
