Avalon Hines

January 25, 1920 — February 15, 2007

Avalon Hine Hines, 87, a resident of New Ulm, Texas and formerly of Houston, Texas, died February 15, 2007, in the Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Hines was born January 25, 1920, in Boone County, Whitestown, Indiana to Ella Isenhour Hine and Otto Arthur Hine. On August 19, 1937, she was married to Dr. Norman Dee Hines in La Grange, Kentucky. Survivors include her daughters, Linda DeFoy of Houston, DeAnne Rogers of Chicago, Illinois, Marcia Sidwa of Austin and Susan Savoy of Hanau, Germany; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. Many thanks to nephew Bill and Dawn Shackelford of Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Dr. Norman Dee Hines, Sr.; and her son, Norman Dee Hines, Jr. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24 in St. Peter s Episcopal Church, 2310 Airline Drive, in Brenham, with Rev. Robert Gribble officiating. Memorials may be given to St. Peter s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 937, Brenham, TX 77834-0937 or the charity of your choice.
