Benjamin H. Marburger, 94, widower of Meta Alaminsky Marburger, passed away March 2, 2009 in Trinity Care Center. Born in Waldeck, Texas on April 5, 1914 to Edward and Lena Quant Marburger, he was baptized at home and confirmed in Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine. He was educated in the Hills School and La Bahia School. On October 22, 1933, he married Meta Alaminsky in Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine. Mr. Marburger was a member of St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton, and worked as a ranch foreman for Dr. and Mrs. Kingsley McHenry. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Elmer and Dorine Marburger of Brenham; grandchildren Lisa and Craig Conner, Lori and Rodney Wittner, and Michael and Jo Ann Marburger; five great-grandchildren: Emily and Matthew Conner and Katelyn and Kathryn Wittner, and Allison Marburger. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Young, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife, a daughter, his parents, as well as four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services for Benjamin H. Marburger will be held Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John''s United Church of Christ, with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg and Greg Felder officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Marvin Marburger, Luther Gregor, Thomas Brady, Ernest Mann, Earl Blum, Rhett Musick, and David Buck. Memorials may be directed to St. John''s United Church of Christ or to Washington County Healthy Living Association, P. O. Box 401, Attn. Toy Kurtz, Brenham, Texas 77833.
