Barbara Lewis

Barbara Lynn Lewis, age forever 21, passed away in her sleep May 1, 2013. A memorial service will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel beginning at 5 p.m, Tuesday, May 7, 2013, preceded by visitation beginning at 3 p.m. until service time. Ms. Lewis was born February 19 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Albert J. Sr. and Elizabeth Hannah Knecht Godfrey. She was a graduate of Hialeah High School and attended nursing school at Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Florida. She showed horses at a young age and loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She spent her life caring for people in her work as a registered nurse and in everyday life. She was always right, even when she wasn''t and had a unique sense of humor. Ms. Lewis collected roosters of all kinds except the real ones. If you had the pleasure of meeting her, you would never forget her. She is gone too soon but always remembered. Love you mom, grandma, sister and friend. We will miss you dearly. Survivors include her daughters, Susan Spencer and husband Steven of Brenham and Stephanie Lewis of Austin and fiancé Jeremiah Rudolph of Giddings; grandchildren, Matthew Friedman, Christopher Anderson and Sara Spencer; brothers, Albert J. Godfrey of Atlanta, Georgia and John A. Godfrey of Greensboro, North Carolina; and sister, Betty J. Couillard of Brenham. Also surviving is Peanut, her four-legged best buddy.
