Beal Crane

February 15, 1933 — December 3, 2015

Beal Timmons Crane, 82, husband of Betty J. Crane, passed away December 3, 2015 at his residence in the Long Point Community.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Brenham Church of Christ, with Pastors Doug Hall and Bob Grigg officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Beal Crane was born February 15, 1933 in Phoenix, Arizona to Kermit Paul and Juanita Reavis Crane. He was baptized in 1960 at Brenham Church of Christ, where he continued membership with his family until his death.

After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Mr. Crane attended the University of Texas and Blinn College, as well as the Public Safety Patrol Academy. On June 15, 1957, he was married to Betty J. Anderson at Brentwood Church of Christ in Austin. Beal served his community as a License and Weight Patrolman with the Texas Dept. of Public Safety for 34 years. After retirement, he was active as a rancher, and loved being out on his tractor.

Mr. Crane also served his church, Brenham Church of Christ, as an elder, deacon, bus ministry, Bible class teacher, and church treasurer. He also greeted fellow members with a friendly smile, handshake, and hugs. Other memberships included the DPSOA, V.A., and Farm Bureau. In later years, he served as a bailiff at the Washington County Courthouse.

Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Crane of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law Paul and Kitty Crane of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law Luanne and Bob Palmer of Cleburne, and Leslie and Jimmy Gaskamp of Brenham; grandchildren: Joseph James, Gene James, Casie James, Katelyn James, Charlotte Ruemke, Cara Crane, Connor Crane, Steve Gaskamp, Eric Gaskamp, and Sarah Gaskamp; great-grandchildren: Makayla James, Hailey James, Ian James, Bobby James, Gini Lu James, Gannon McDonald, Olive Page, Lena Ruemke, Cora Ruemke, and Jackson Gaskamp; brothers, Jimmy Crane, and Jerry Crane and wife Jeannie; sisters: Paula Cameron, Jo Katherine Crane, and Janie Sue Payte.

Also surviving is Kim Hardan, a special caregiver who has become part of our family, as well as Herman and Tracey Bloomberg, Ryan, Jacob, and Allyson (our special adopted family).

Mr. Crane was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Carly Crane; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Clara Anderson, and a sister, Arlene Armbruster.

Serving as pallbearers are Joseph James, Gene James, Steve Gaskamp, Eric Gaskamp, Connor Crane, Ian James, and Bobby James. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Bryant, Charly Bell, Herman and Tracey Bloomberg, Ervin Armbruster, Tom Pace, Tom Albus, Mike Collier, Tom Kent, and Bob Corley.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley, Brenham Church of Christ, St. Jude Children''s Hospital, or World Vision.
