Benedict Ben Gilbert Hauerland, 63 of Burton, died March 7, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Hauerland was born November 26, 1942 in Sealy, Texas to John and Frances Hamala Hauerland. He was baptized and confirmed in Sealy. He was a graduate of Sealy High School, Blinn College and Sam Houston State University, where he earned his BS in education. He also attended Texas A&M University, where he earned an MAdm. On December 26, 1965 he married Billye Jean Jurica at the Immaculate Conception Church in Sealy. Mr. Hauerland served 41 years in education as a high school principal and as an educator at Giddings State School. He was a member of St. Mary s Catholic Church in Brenham. Mr. Hauerland also served two different terms on the Burton City Council and was appointed a member of the Military Academy Selection Committee. He served on the education board committee for Prairie View A&M University and was active in coaching Little League baseball, softball and soccer. Survivors include his wife, Billye Hauerland of Burton; a daughter and son-in-law, Jamie J. and Kevin Poorman of Houston; a son, Jonathon Hauerland of Cedar Park; a daughter-in-law and step son-in-law, Kirk Still and Peggy Still of Brenham; two grandchildren, Preston Hauerland and Payton Hauerland, both of Brenham; a brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie E. and Sharon Hauerland of Meridian; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and James Vavrecka and Doris and Kenneth Stuessel, all of Sealy; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Sybil Jurica of Houston; mother-in-law, Vlasta Jurica, Jonathon''s friend, Rachel Neutzler, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; many cousins; and special pets, Buster and Spike. Pallbearers will be Frank Brown, II, Stephen E. Cornwell, Allan R. Hogan, Roy C. Marshall, Guy C. McDonald, Ross Robinson, Randy Dale Robinson, Dennis A. Smith and Robbie L. Stork.
