Bennie Waggoner, Jr.

November 25, 1946 — February 3, 2015

Bennie John Waggoner, Jr., 68, husband of Connie Renee Waggoner, died February 3, 2015 at his residence in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Rev. Jack Meeker officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Bennie John Waggoner, Jr. was born November 25, 1946 in Houston to Bennie John Sr. and Rose Marie Madden Waggoner. He was baptized in June of 1957, and by baptism converted to the Lutheran faith in 1990. Bennie served his country during the Viet Nam War in the U. S. Navy. On March 20, 1971, he was married to Connie Renee Pynes. Memberships included the Loyal Order of Moose, Houston Lodge #1519, moving to Lodge #1721 in Pasadena in 1986. He remained a member until 2006. He was also a member of American Legion Post, Ellington Air Force Base, Post #490. After moving to Burton, he became a member of the Burton Post #242. Other memberships included the Local Pipefitters Union #211, from 1970 to present, and the Brenham Christian Motorcycle Association. Bennie was a welder and fitter for 46 years, having been employed by Austin Industrial, and later retiring from Valmont Industries in Brenham. Fishing and hunting were favorite pastimes. He treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren, and was truly a wonderful husband, father and PePaw. He loved his mom-in-law more than anything. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Connie Waggoner, of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law Bennie John III and Sherry Waggoner of Hempstead; daughter and son-in-law Latricia Renee and Clay Whitfield of Somerville; grandchildren: Justin Thomas Waggoner, Shelby Wayne Waggoner, Heather LeAnn Harris, Autumn Renee Sparks, LeAnna Rose Sparks, Katy and Cole Whitfield; brother, Billy Glenn Waggoner of Houston; sisters and brothers-in-law Linda Kay and Dave Korschgen of Houston, and Jetta Gail and Glen Goodman of Brenham; mother-in-law Doris Staten of Brenham, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents. Serving as pallbearers are Bennie John Waggoner III, Clay Whitfield, Larry King, Mike Harris, Lance Sternadel, Dwight Ottele, Bobby Mick, and Joel Sanchez. Doug Collins and Clint Cooper will be honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley, for whose care the family is especially grateful, and the Cowboy Church of Brenham.
