Bern Nell Meier, 78, of Burton, died October 5, 2006, at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham. Mrs. Meier was born December 3, 1927 in Burton, to Albert E. and Frieda Beckermann Kroll. She was baptized and confirmed in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, and attended Boundary School in Washington County. On November 14, 1948, she married Carl F. Meier in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Greenvine. She was a member of St. John s United Church of Christ of Burton. Mrs. Meier was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Carl F. Meier; son, Carlton F. Meier of Orlando, Florida; daughters Carol Koehne and husband David of Brenham, and Connie Cadenhead of College Station; grandchildren: Coty and Brad Hinze, Kyle Koehne, Jason Schroeder, Adam Cadenhead, and Hannah Cadenhead; brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin Buddy and Bobbie Faye Kroll of Hempstead; Quin Dell and Jean Kroll of Brenham; and a sister, Willie Mae Meyer of Giddings. Other relatives include Wilbert Buddy and Ruby Meier, brother-in-law & sister-in-law; Erwin and Ruth Meier, brother-in-law & sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, William Cadenhead; granddaughter, Lara Cadenhead; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charlie and Mathilda Meier; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Raymond Meyer, Wilfred Meier, Lloyd and Aline Gerland, and Charlie and Alfrieda Herzog. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2006, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 8 at St. John s United Church of Christ, Burton, with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg and Pastor Greg Felder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are David Gerland, Dennis Gerland, Eugene Herzog, Dale Kroll, Darrell Kroll, Keith Kroll, Quin Dell Kroll Jr., Keith Meier, Tim Meier, and Rodney Meyer. Memorials may be given to St. John s United Church of Christ, or Hospice Brenham. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham.
