Bernice Tiemann Emshoff, 85, died February 23, 2017 at her residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2017 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, with Pastor John Hirling officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Bernice Emshoff was born November 5, 1931 in Brenham to Louis and Matilda Honerkamp Tiemann. Baptized Feb. 7, 1932 by Pastor M. C. Hoermann at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, she was confirmed there on January 28, 1945 by Pastor H. T. Flachmeier. She was married to Howard Emshoff on September 30, 1951, also at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, where she remained a faithful member until her death.
Mrs. Emshoff was a member of the Martha Circle at her church, and also taught Sunday School. She loved cooking and spending time with her family. Her grandkids and great-grandkids were the light of her life. Playing cards and dominoes were favorite pastimes. Bernice especially enjoyed playing with her Wednesday card group. She was also a member of Sons of Herman for over 50 years. She will truly be missed.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Weldon and Peggy Emshoff of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Fred Kollman and Becky and Robert Winkelmann, all of Bellville; sister, Elsie Pieper of Brenham; grandchildren: Andy and Natasha Kollman, Tammy and Blair Goebel, Maggie and Will Moyers, Wesley and Erica Winkelmann, Shea Emshoff and fiancé Kristin Carter, Tyler Winkelmann and fiancé Morgan Kratzer; great-grandchildren: Landon and Layla Moyers, Greyson and Beckett Winkelmann, and Koltin and Kasen Kocian.
Other surviving relatives are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Ruth and Raymond McKinney, Joy Finke, Faye and Darrell Evans, and Stanley and Belinda Jackson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Emshoff was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Emshoff; parents, Louis and Matilda Tiemann; father-in-law and mother-in-law Herbert and Laura Emshoff; brothers: Arno Tiemann, Erwin Tiemann; sisters-in-law Lillie Tiemann, Elois Jackson; brothers-in-law Elton Pieper and Ivan Finke.
Serving as pallbearers are Andy Kollman, Blair Goebel, Will Moyers, Wesley Winkelmann, Shea Emshoff, and Tyler Winkelmann. Honorary pallbearers are Tammy Goebel, Natasha Kollman, Maggie Moyers, Erica Winkelmann, Kristin Carter and Morgan Kratzer.
