Bernice Henrietta Seta Minnie Buerger Mantey, 77, of Brenham, died Oct. 24, 2005, in Brenham Rest Home. Mrs. Mantey was born Sept. 24, 1928, in Washington County, Texas, to Fritz Sr. and Christine Tina Meyer Buerger. She attended Hoddeville and Charlesville schools. On June 24, 1951, she was married to Arthur Mantey in Friedens United Church of Christ in Gay Hill. Mrs. Mantey was a cook at Santa Fe Café and a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Gay Hill. She loved gardening, the Houston Astros, and watching her grandkids with their fair projects. She was a great cook and special mother. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, David A. Mantey of Brenham and James A. and Reba Mantey of Caldwell; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Mantey of Brenham, Karen and Sid Roeske of Brenham, Janice and Dewayne Naylor of Brenham and Kathy and Roger Schoenst of Carmine; 10 grandchildren, Shawn Roeske, Lacey Roeske, Brad Naylor, Blake Naylor, J.T. Naylor and fiancée Candice Steinfeld, Crystal Mantey, Craig Mantey and wife Christina, Heather Schoenst, Mandy Schoenst and Chance Schoenst; two great-grandchildren, Mac Naylor and Christian Naylor; brothers and sister-in-law, Fred Buerger, Jr. of Brenham; and Franklin and Judy Buerger of Houston; sister and brothers-in-law, Delores and Ervin Zander of Houston and Alfred Popp, Sr. of Brenham brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Darvin & Mary Mantey, Leon & Joyce Mantey, Fred & Joan Mantey, Marvin Lee & Leona Roehling, Lillian Mantey, Joyce Mantey; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Mantey; parents; grandparents, Christian and Henrietta Meyer; one infant son; one sister, Evelyn Popp; and one brother, Melvin Buerger. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 in Memorial Oaks Chapel with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will be in Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery in Gay Hill. The family will receive visitors from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Shawn Roeske, Brad Naylor, Blake Naylor, Craig Mantey, J.T. Naylor and Chance Schoenst. Honorary pallbearers will be Crystal Mantey, Heather Schoenst, Mandy Schoenst, Lacey Roeske, Mac Naylor and Christian Naylor.
