Bernice Roski Pratt, the daughter of Emil and Lydia Schlabock Roski, was born on May 7, 1923 in Fayette County, Texas. She was baptized on June 22, 1924 in Shelby, Texas. She was later confirmed in 1936 on Palm Sunday in Carmine, Texas. Bernice was educated at La Grange High School in Texas, graduating from there in 1941.
Bernice married the love of her life, Jimmie Pratt, on March 6, 1943.
Bernice loved to attend mass at Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine, Texas. She was also an affirmed member of Women of ELCA.
Bernice was an avid homemaker that loved to cook, bake, and sew; however Bernice’s real and abiding passion was her family and friends. She gave herself unselfishly by adopting three young siblings so they would not be separated. There are no words that can fully express the love she had for her children. She always took time out of her busy schedule to remind her children that she loved them deeply. One thing that will always be remembered by her children is the wonderful treats she would have waiting as they arrived home from school. She sought to instill in her children a zest for life, a commitment to family and friends, and the power of a smile. She taught them how to love fearlessly and unconditionally to everyone. She was always kind hearted and compassionate and truly made everyone around her a better person. The other love of her life was her companion pet Lit’L Girl. Lit’L Girl brought Bernice much happiness and love for many years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and James Moore of Carmine, Texas, son and daughter-in-law Steven and Cindy Pratt of Bellville, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth Ann and Herbert Purczinsky of Chilton, Texas, Alice Pratt of Alvin, Texas, grandchildren James Roemer, Scott and Amie Pratt, Savana and Jeremie Lehmann, great-grandchildren Nicholas, Jaxon, Presley, Nathaniel, and Christian; special family friends, Kenneth and Dona Moore.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Pratt on July 15, 2000, son Ray J. Pratt, parents Emil and Lydia Roski, brother Eldie Roski, mother and father-in-law, three brother-in-laws, one sister-in-law and a niece.

Honorary Pallbearers include Amie Pratt, Christian Pratt, Savana and Jeremie Lehmann, Jaxon Roemer, Presley Barrett, and Nathaniel Zurbrugg.
