Bernice Bonita Rooker, 92, of Brenham, TX, died on February 6, 2022.
A visitation will be held from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Garden of Memories in El Campo, TX.
Bernice was born on April 7, 1929 in El Campo, TX to Sam and Louise Keng McClure. She graduated from El Campo High School in 1947. She married her husband, M.F. Rooker Jr., on December 20, 1948.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Brenham. She loved reading romance novels, cooking wonderful meals and treats for her family, family trips to the Texas coast, and visiting small Texas towns, which brought her much happiness. She enjoyed eating at many local places, but Santa Fe Café was her favorite. She was a cook for Toy Box Day Care for over twenty years. Generations of children in Brenham got to enjoy her amazing cooking. She was a beautiful person with a kind spirit and she loved her family with all her heart. She will always be remembered and loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by son, Larry Rooker of Brenham, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Sammy Rooker and wife Kelly of Conroe, TX; daughter, Kathleen Rooker of Brenham, TX; grandchildren, Rebecca Waits and husband Terry, Matt Rooker and wife Jodie, and Staci Chapdelaine; great-grandchildren, Zane Waits, Zoey Waits, Max Chapdelaine, and Luke Chapdelaine; and numerous cousins and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, M.F. Rooker Jr.; and grandson-in-law, Robert Chapdelaine.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sammy Rooker, Matt Rooker, Terry Waits, and Zane Waits, Richard Gammon, and Larry Rooker.
