Bernice Weiss

Funeral services for Bernice Wickel Weiss are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2014 at Wesley Brethren Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Michael Groseclose will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mrs. Weiss passed away at her residence on February 20, 2014 at the age of 92. Bernice Weiss was born Nov. 6, 1921 in Greenvine to Ed H. and Freida Brandt Wickel. She was baptized June 4, 1922 at Greenvine Lutheran Church by Rev. A. L. Koeppe, and confirmed there April 5, 1936 by Pastor Carl Zieke. Bernice was married to Granville Weiss on March 26, 1947 at Welcome Lutheran Church by Rev. Wolff. Bernice took care of her family as a homemaker. She was a member of Wesley Brethren Church until her death, where she was also a member of the choir and Christian Sisters. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Pam Weiss of Brenham; grandchildren Chad and Kacey Weiss and Waylon Weiss; a great-grandchild, Cade Weiss, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Granville G. Weiss; a son, Larry Weiss, her parents, Ed and Freida Wickel, and a brother, Melvin Wickel. Friends and relatives will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be directed to the Wesley Brethren Church Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
