Bertha Malinda Muehlbrad Koerth, 102, of Burton, and the widow of Edward O. Koerth, died Saturday June 19, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Koerth was born November 25, 1901, in the Burton community, Washington County, TX, to Emil and Wilhemine Krause Muehlbrad. She was baptized March 30, 1902in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine by Reverend John Harder. She was confirmed in Emmanuel Lutheran Church on March 28, 1915, by Reverend J S. Dallman. Mrs. Koerth attended the Boundary school. On November 6, 1927, she was married to Edward O. Koerth in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine by Reverend Carl Ziehe. Bertha and Edward lived in the Burton area where they farmed and operated a dairy for many years. They also raised Holstein cattle. She was an excellent seamstress and made a great number of quilts. Bertha enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a great granny to everyone. She was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine and was an active member of the Afternoon Ladies Evening Circle and WELCA. Survivors include her sons & daughters-in-law, Allan & Betty Koerth of Missouri City, TX; Delton & Gladys Koerth of Burton, TX; son, Billy Dean Koerth and special friend, Theresa Bilski of Burton, TX; daughter & son-in-law, Daulene & Edward Hopmann of Burton, TX; son-in-law, Maurice Petersen and his wife Nancy of Livingston, TX; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren - -Mark, Patty, Nicholas and Kaitlin Hopmann; Karla, Joe, Jensen, Kylie and Alexis Antkowiak; Becky, Steve & Tyler Krebs; Don Hopmann; Kenneth, Karen, Nicole & Zachary Koerth; Dayna, Matt, Morgan and Will Bathe; Cindy, Timothy, John & Jacob Joswiak; David, Michelle, Katie & Austin Koerth; Charles, Terri & Garrett Koerth; Vicky, Doyle & Monica Reeves; Susan, Gary, Ashley & Brittany Morgan; Melinda, Jon & Joshua Hubbard; Jonna & Russell Klump; Wendy, David, David, Jr. & Rachel Warner; Sharon, Jack & Devon Smith and Danny Koerth; 1 step great-grandchild, Sarah Bennett and 1 step great-great-grandchild, Autumn Bennett; brother, Harry Muehlbrad of Burton, TX; brother-in-law, Arthur Fuelberg of Brenham; sister, Ella Althaus of Beasley, TX; sisters-in-law, Lillie Muehlbrad and Ora Nell Muehlbrad of Burton. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Nov. 1982; daughter, Betty Jo Petersen, May 1983 and great-grandson, Justin Joswiak, Dec. 2003, parents, two sisters and seven brothers. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday. June 22, 2004 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine with Reverend Pamela Werrell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be considered honorary pallbearers. The family will receive visitors at Foehner Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, June 21, 2004. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton, TX.
