Betty Joyce Pieper Burran, 64, wife of Homer Burran, passed away November 16, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem, with Pastor Charles Parnell officiating. Burial will take place in Welcome, Texas in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery of Welcome. The family will receive friends and relatives from 4 until 6 p.m., Saturday, November 19, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Betty Burran was born May 12, 1947 in Brenham to Bennie B. and Erna Dannhaus Pieper. She was baptized August 3, 1947 in St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, and confirmed March 26, 1961 in Salem Lutheran Church of Salem. Betty was a graduate of Brenham High School. On Sept. 9, 1999, she married Homer Burran at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park. Traveling with her husband and spending time with family and friends were favorite pastimes. Survivors include her husband, Homer Burran, and mother, Erna Pieper, both of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law Steven and Robin Higgins of Bellville; stepson, Mike Burran; grandchildren: James, Blake, Rusty, and Jeffrey Higgins; step-grandson, Cody Burran; brothers and sisters-in-law: Lloyd and Diane Pieper of Brenham, and Bobbie and Nina Pieper of Houston, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and her special friends, Doug and Janet Moore. Not to be forgotten is her beloved pet, her dog, Tina. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Bennie Pieper and her son, Craig Higgins. Serving as pallbearers are Matt Pieper, Donnie Roberts, Eldor Brade, Tommy Brade, Danny Brade, Ryan Brade, Dale Pieper and Bill Danes. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Moore and Mike Burran. Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church of Salem, or to Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements for Betty Joyce Burran are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham.
