Betty Claire Harrison Fife, 81, of Brenham, widow of Woody Fife, Jr., passed away August 28, 2011. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Jim Tom Ainsworth officiating. Burial will take place at 12:00 noon in the Hempstead City Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Betty Fife was born November 12, 1929 in Kennard, Texas to Earl Adam and Helen Brown Merriwether Harrison. She married Woody Fife, Jr. on Sept. 1, 1955. Betty obtained a B.S. degree from Texas A&M University in 1970, and was employed for 17 years at Sweetbriar Nursing Home, where she served as administrator for a number of years. Betty was involved with the Washington Co. 4-H clubs, as well as the Girl Scouts. She taught literacy at the Brenham Community Education Center, and was a member of the Texas A&M Alumni. Survivors include daughters Wyvonne Ann Stone of Houston, and Ollie Schiller of Somerville, and a sister, Sue Hughes of Houston. She was preceded in deaty by her husband Woody Fife, Jr.; father, Earl Harrison; mother, Helen Harrison; sister, Jean McQueen; sons-in-law Dennis M. Schiller and Ronald L. Stone. Serving as pallbearers are Billy Scheffer, Stephen Scheffer, Fred L. Westerfeld, Justin Schiller, Eric Schiller, Charles Earl Chuck Hughes, Robert Lipscomb, and Jonathan J.D. Dobbs.
