Betty Martin

November 3, 1943 — October 6, 2021

Betty Jo Martin, age 77, died Wednesday October 6, 2021 surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her own home.

Visitation will be 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday October 8, 2021 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with family present 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The service is 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 9, 2021 at Memorial Oaks Chapel officiated by Tim Webb, the burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

She was born on November 3, 1943 to Robert Louis Gibbs and Eola Gibbs.

Betty liked to attend her grandchildren’s football, softball and volleyball games. She loved to read and her favorite author was Nora Roberts. Her favorite musical artist was Willie Nelson, and she loved listening to her daughter sing. She was the most genuine, selfless and strong woman anyone knew. There are no words to explain how great of a woman she actually was. She was a school nurse for 34 years, and also worked at Westwood Cinema 6 for over 25 years.

Betty is survived by her son, Sheppard Blaine Martin; daughter, Melanie Dae Vega (Martin); grandchildren, Lorenzo Angel Vega, Sebastian Alexander Vega, Alexia Anne Martin and Lyanna Michelle Martin.

She is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Robert Henry Martin; father and mother, Robert Louis Gibbs and Eola Gibbs.

Pallbearers are Lorenzo Vega, Lorenzo Angel Vega, Sebastian Alexander Vega, Habila Abrakson, Sheppard Blaine Martin and Holden Vega.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Champion Fellowship Church, 1801 S. Market St. Brenham, TX 77833.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St. Brenham, TX 77833.
