Betty Zorn

March 1, 1932 — September 6, 2013

Betty Doty Zorn passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 in Brenham, TX after a long, valiant battle with cancer. Betty was born March 1, 1932 in Port Arthur to Lewis Doty and Beulah Nickelson Doty. She moved to Houston when she married Fred Zorn in 1950 and resided there until 1995, when they moved to Hempstead to be near their son and his family. A long-time member of Uvalde Baptist Church in Houston until moving, Betty was an active member of Pine Island Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. She particularly enjoyed the fellowship of her many friends and touched the lives of everyone she met. A loving and generous woman, she was an avid traveler, enjoying vacations with friends and family. Betty was also a business woman, having owned several businesses in Houston and Rusk, Texas. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Fred Zorn; her son Tommy Zorn and his wife Cindy; grandson, Jacob Zorn and wife Krissie; grandson, Zack Zorn and great-grandsons Brody and Conner. She is survived by a sister, Earline Bane of San Marcos, CA; brother, Bob Doty and wife, Eva of San Marcos, TX; sisters-in-law Helen Miskell of Cleveland, TX, Mary Isbell of Channelview, Annie Elliott and husband Carroll of Pearland, Tx; Flo Trinkle and husband, Phil of Dallas, TX; brothers-in-law Billy Zorn and wife Ann of Georgia, Charlie Zorn and wife Cora of Channelview, Edward Zorn of Cleveland, Paul Zorn and wife Maydeen, of Huffman, and numerous adoring nieces, nephews, and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Pine Island Baptist Church, Pine Island, TX at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society in Betty''s name, or to the Waller Assistance and Restoration Ministries, WARM Waller, TX.
