Billie Bullock

June 22, 1927 — May 13, 2014

Billie Jane Blanchard Bullock, age 86, widow of Tom Bullock Sr., passed away peacefully in her home May 13 in Brenham, Texas with family at her side. She was a native Texan, born June 22, 1927 to George and Esther Blanchard in Hillsboro, Texas. Jane attended Hill County Junior College and Texas State Teachers College in Denton where she was an Aggie Sweetheart. While home from school, she heard about a handsome, young veteran named Tom Bullock who had recently returned from the war. Not long thereafter, they met, fell in love, and were married in Hillsboro on May 2, 1947. Living in Houston and later Washington County brought them many close friendships that spanned a lifetime. They enjoyed years of extensive travel around the world, especially during Tom''s tenure as an architect with CRS. Jane was an avid gardener, gourmet cook and hostess frequently entertaining guests at their historic farmhouse at Washington-on-the-Brazos. She had a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh that brought joy to those around her. "Noni," as she was affectionately called, enjoyed hosting her grandchildren at their Texana Farm and always made holidays special for each of them. Annual Easter egg hunts, weenie roasts and picnics were just some of the fun things she planned. Vacations with Noni and Papa were special as you were certain to have lots of fun and be spoiled. Jane was an exceptional mother and grandmother who was so proud of each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them all dearly. She felt she was truly blessed. Jane was an active member of St. Peter''s Episcopal Church in Brenham belonging to the ECW and Altar Guild. She will certainly be missed by her numerous "friend groups" in Brenham whom she met with regularly, as well as the Houston friendships she maintained through the years. Jane is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Tom Bullock Sr., her parents and brother George Blanchard. She is survived by her son Tom Bullock Jr. and wife Susan, daughter Jana Canfield and husband Chase, as well as her grandchildren Julie Wunz Chris, Sarah McIntyre Matt, Chris Bullock Candice, Kyle Canfield Elizabeth, Will Canfield Blair, Kara Mueck Colby and Ben Canfield Kathryn. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren. The family is very grateful for the excellent and loving care provided by her caregivers Nettie Salazar, Maria Salazar, and Lupe Cienega and the staff of AMA Health Care. Their dedication to Jane is deeply appreciated. Visitation will be Friday May 16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Brenham. The memorial service for Jane will be held at 11:00 a.m. May 17 at St. Peter''s Episcopal Church of Brenham, 2310 Airline Drive where the Rev. David Ottsen will officiate. All are invited to greet the family following the service at a reception in the adjoining Fellowship Hall. In lieu of customary remembrances and for those desiring, memorial contributions in Jane''s name may be made to St. Peter''s Episcopal Church or the Save Our Simon theater fund, P. O. Box 2006 Brenham, Texas 77834. Funeral arrangements for Billie Jane Blanchard Bullock are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
