Billie Richard Haas, 73, of Brenham, died July 23, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center. Billie was born June 15, 1936 in Washington County to John W. Haas and Frieda Witt Haas. He was baptized July 19, 1936 at St. John''s Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill by Pastor P. Gogolin and was confirmed April 2, 1950. On December 23, 1956 he married Marlene Menk at St. John''s Evangelical Church in Burton by Pastor E. H. Schwengel. He served his country in the U. S. Army from September 5, 1956 until September 5, 1962. After returning to Brenham he joined St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, ushering team and other committees. He was also a member of Goodfellows for many years. He was employed at Bluebonnet Electric Co-op for 41 years until he retired in 2001 as Operations Manager. He loved the Coop and its employees. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Marlene Menk Haas; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Jay Petrash of Brenham; granddaughters Jessica Korth and Katie Petrash and great-granddaughter Emilee Grace Korth, all of Brenham; sister, Gertrude Hohlt of Brenham, and sister and brother-in-law Betty and Fred Kolkhorst of Bryan. Pallbearers will be his nephews: Gary Hohlt, Danny Hohlt, Kurt Kolkhorst and Wiley Tarver, life-long friend, Willie Prigge and godson, Kenton Prigge. We would like to thank Dr. Robert Haydon and his staff for all of their love and support and Doctors Stoltenberg and Cheruku. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to the St. Paul''s TV Ministry or Hospice. Funeral services for Billie Haas will be held Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
