Billy Barnes

Billy Wayne Barnes, 83, passed away December 20, 2017 in College Station.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg, with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Billy was born August 26, 1934 in Bryan to Henry and Betty Walker Barnes. He served his country in the U S Army, stationed in Germany.

Billy oversaw the start of the Borden’s Milk Distributorship in Brenham, and he was part owner of Turner Toyota in Conroe. He also managed the Brenham Municipal Airport. After retirement, Billy oversaw dealer trades for numerous car dealers in Brenham, a job he greatly enjoyed.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Giese Barnes, whom he married Sept. 17, 1955 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg.

Also surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Sharon Barnes of Montgomery; daughter, Lori Moehlmann of Brenham; brothers and sisters-in-law Charles and Puddin Barnes of Brenham, Hank and Louise Barnes of San Antonio, and Allen Barnes of College Station; sister-in-law Dorothy Tesch of Brenham; grandchildren: Brice and Natalie Barnes, Brett Barnes, Brayden and Lesley Barnes, Jarred and Katie Moehlmann, and Jordan Moehlmann, as well as one great-grandchild, Liam Barnes and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy Ann Barnes and brother-in-law, Leslie Tesch.

His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg.
